Description
Montague was the last representative of the so-called Family Era. In 1960, the Barlings decided to sell the company founded in 1812 to their best customer, Finley, who in turn sold it to Imperial Tobacco in 1963. Such a noble pipe brand in the hands of a cigarette conglomerate did not bode well.
Production ceased in 1970, with Peterson and Nörding taking over external production. The glamorous name passed through various overwhelmed hands, either doing the wrong things or nothing at all.

The Montague and the Marylebone Bark are the entry-level pipes into the new Barling world. The rustic Craggy Root surface of the Montague pipes is resistant to scratches and discoloration.
Visually inspired by an army pipe it features a tenon for the insertion of a 9mm filter, ensuring a secure hold for the mouthpiece.
The 9mm acrylic mouthpiece bears the new brand logo - a lion's head made of sterling silver.
