Description
The harp has a special significance in Irish history. Harp players were held in very high regard, they were seated at the kings table, and often held counseling titles advising the king in political and social affairs. When the British invaded Ireland they not only destroyed monastaries and harbors, the Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell also ordered the destruction of all Irish Harps.
The harp is not only the symbol for resistance, but also for the longed for independence.
